OUR OTHER PARADE -

THE CAVALCADE OF CARS

In 1995 the Cheriton and Morehall Carnival Court were asked to take part in the first ever Folkestone Automobile Club Christmas Cavalcade of Cars.  The cavalcade is a parade of classic cars, starting at The Grand on the Leas and ending at the Oddfellows Club in Cheriton.

For the first few years of the parade we were the only court to take part, proud to lead it along with the Mayor of Folkestone, and looked on it as our 'other' parade; we were eventually joined over the years by other courts from Hythe and Folkestone.

Our association with the Automobile Club led us to help them with their Classic Car Festival at the Shepway Airshow in 2003 (being interviewed on Radio Kent about our involvement); and it still continues even to this day, as once again Cheriton and Morehall Carnival Association was asked to help the FAC with the Folkestone Classic Car Festival on the Leas on 28 August 2005.

2005:
The Folkestone Classic Car Festival
Another busy day for the court, as they were asked to sell programmes and present prizes on one of the hottest August days of the year.

2003:
The Shepway Airshow
Distributing voting forms for the two days of the airshow and having the honour of making the presentations at the end of the competitions, the court were well rewarded for all their hard work - they met Vicky Alcock and were interviewed on Radio Kent.

The Christmas Cavalcade
Ben's first ride in a vintage car (and he got to wear driving goggles) with our court, the Mayor, and the Folkestone girls.  This year the event was filmed for TV.  Once again the Juniors had to rush off to Aylesham carnival, while Siobhan had to make a dash to Dover to star in Sweet Charity.  We liked to keep our courts busy!

2002:
Saw the court joined once again by the Hythe Queen and the Folkestone Princesses; but they couldn't enjoy the festivities for too long as they had to rush off to the Aylesham Christmas Carnival in the afternoon (where the Juniors won 3 prizes)!

2001:
Heidi, Aimee, Stephanie and Megan had their choice af car once again, and this year were joined by the Hythe Festival Queen as well as the Folkestone girls.

2000:
Joined by the Folkestone Mayor and the Court of Folkestone, the girls had their choice of vehicle again.  And this year was a real family affair, with our Junior Princess, Rhiannon, being joined by her two sisters, Kerri and Aimee, Princesses in the Folkestone Court!

1999:
Michelle and Leanne had their choice of car this year, and were joined by the Folkestone Court once again, as well as for the first time, the Hythe Festival Queen.

1998:
Viv, Michelle, Leanne, Vicky and Carrie once again rode in the car of their choice along with the Folkestone Mayor, and for the first time the Court of Folkestone.

1997:
Vicky, Toni, Rose-Marie and Zoe all got to chose which of the open-topped cars they got to ride in along with the Mayor of Folkestone, King Neptune from Neptune Radio, and Santa Claus.

1996:
Once again it was our Junior Court, Heidi, Toni and Monique who had the honour of taking part this year (as the seniors were taking part in the Broadstairs and Margate Christmas Carnivals), riding once again on top of the bus, and were filmed by the BBC for the local news!

1995:
This first year the Junior Court, Carrie, Terri and Sarah took part (as our Seniors were at the first Broadstairs Christmas Carnival), and they travelled on top of the Radio Kent Bus along with the Busker Du Band.
