FANCY DRESS
The Cheriton Court and Committee always enjoyed the chance to dress up - and not just in their carnival dresses (or smart suits). Here's a selection of some of the Courts' and Committee members more spectacular forays into Fancy Dress.
Lesley, Kathryn and Karol had fun at the Blackbull Halloween fund-raiser in 1988.
Canival Supporters Club Dance 1990 - two first places.
Allington Carnival 1990 - The Court decided to do something different and Kevin (the Snowman) won the Carnival Personality award...
...and something different again at Bromley in 2002...

...while Maurice and Karol showed they had a nose for fancy dress at Bromley in 2003!
Mick Helps out at the Stepping Stones Playgroup Christmas Party 1995 as The Snowman...
...then to the first Deal Xmas Parade in 1995.
At our Junior Selection Dance we always tried something different, first in 1996...
...then again in 1997...
...again in 1998 (Karol as the Queen of Sheba)...
...and again in 2001.

Horror at Hornsey in 1998.
Three prizes at Pitsea & Vange in 1998.
Mary, Viv and Louise dressed up for the Victorian Festival at the Dover Town Hall two years running.

And Zoe and Viv got into Tudor costume for the grand re-opening of the Three Tuns in Canterbury.
Viv won second prize in the 1999 Trawler Race for her hippy costume.
Karol got dressed up as a chicken in 1999 to help out at the Dover TCM Easter Egg hunt. (It was very hot in that suit!)
Karol also helped the Dover TCM to raise money on St Georges Day in 2000.
The day before the 2005 Dover Pageant Ben and Karol were advertsing it at the Boat Race...

... and the week before, Ben, Karol and Danielle were advertising the Pageant at the Western Heights (pictured with the Mayor of Dover)
A prize for the Naughty Schoolgirls at Edmonton in 2002...

Robin Hood at Enfield in 2003. But wasn't it hot that day?! (Sorry we made you wear the black-out curtain, eh, monk's habit, Maurice!)
At the Enfield Xmas parade in November 2002 Karol got so wet, as she walked alongside the float during a thunderstorm, it took two days to dry out! But she did managed to raise £45!
A musical trip back in time at the Aylesham CA fund-raiser in 2004.

Ben's first appearance for Cheriton - Broadstairs Christmas parade 1995 as Santa on wheels (cute or what?)
The Wizard of Oz won Ben a prize at Ash in 2000,

and in 2002 he went along as a Ghostbuster.
Hiawatha won him a prize in Charlton's parade in 2001.
A soldier at the Charlton and Dover parades in July 1999.
The Folkestone Fayre in 2002.
The Romany Festival in 2003.
River Fete in 2003 (Ben back, second right).
Off to Lewes for their bonfire parade.
Karol and Ben couldn't get away from carnival even when they were on holiday - here they are at Ilfracombe's carnival, winning third and fourth prize respectively.
Ben was always the star of the show at the Deal Christmas parade, winning the Mayor's Cup in 1998...
...in 2001...
...again in 2002...
... a second prize in 2003 ...
...and Best Collector in 1999.
At the Deal Lights in 1999 he came fourth.
He even wore his Santa's Little Helper costume to the Royal Victoria Hospital in Folkestone in 1998, when the Court went their to deliver Christmas hampers to the staff and patients.
Karol as Rudolph at the White Cliffs Christmas carnivals in 1999.
And talking of Christmas - the Mrs Christmas cossies were first seen at Allington in 1987, where we won the Snow Princess title and Court of the Day...
... again at Allington in 1988, where we won the float prize and a runner-up's place in the Allington Snow Queen contest.
... and again at Allington in 1989.
At Dover Christmas in 1994, where we won the float prize ...
... and again at Dover Christmas in 1996, where we won the Court contest...
...and in 1997 where we won the float prize again (and Ben joined the parade as a Thunderbird).
Deal Christmas in 2002 ...

At Bromley 2003...

...the New Romney Christmas parade 2003...
...and the Wishing Fish (or is it Fishing Wish?) lantern parade in 2003.
They also came in handy at the Downsmead Christmas Fete in 1988.
Mick always enjoyed playing Santa at the Christmas carnivals...

Siobhan, Karol and Ben jumped at the chance to dress as famous film stars for the 2006 Dover Film Festival. They went along with other members of the Blackfish Academy.







On the first night Karol went as Lauren Bacall, while Ben dressed as Sean Connery. For the second night of the festival Siobhan joined them as Audrey Hepburn, while Karol changed into Grace Kelly (after she married Prince Rainer) and Ben became Tommy Lee Jones.
