2007 News

Proving once again that Cheriton girls are the best in Kent, 2003 Queen Siobhan Hustler and 2003 Junior Princess Natasha Durham have been crowned Senior and Junior Miss Invicta-Kent.

Siobhan won Miss News of the World 2007 and went through to the Miss England finals in June.
Siobhan's success should come as no surprise as she made the finals for no less than FOUR Miss England 2007 regional heats - Miss Bridal Hair and Beauty (after storming through the talent round in Chatham), Miss Goddess Hair, Miss News of the World, and Miss ModelZed!

1988 Queen and former Carnival Chairman, Karol Steele and Siobhan landed minor roles in the new Natalie Portman/Scarlett Johansson movie 'The Other Boleyn Girl', which was filmed in Kent at the end of November and beginning of December 2006.

Karol played a noblewoman in the Boleyn household, while Siobhan had several roles, including a peasant girl at the execution of Anne and George Boleyn and a Lady-in-Waiting. The film is due for theatrical in the UK on 1 February 2008. (See Fame and The Famous).
They are now looking forward to taking part in the filming of the new Michael Caine movie this October.

And more film success for Karol when she won a role in the teen comedy movie 'Wild Child', filming at Cobham Hall and Balls Park.  Karol was playing the RE teacher and got to work with Natasha Richardson ('Parent Trap'), Aidan Quinn ('Practical Magic'), Shirley Henderson ('Bridget Jones' and 'Harry Potter'), Alex Pettyfer ('Stormbreaker'), and Julia Robert's niece, Emma Roberts ('Nancy Drew').  The film will be released Easter 2008.  (See Fame and the Famous).

And talking of film fame, Scampers and his owner Karol are featured in an entry into the 2008 Dover Film Festival.  Entitled 'Superdog', it tells the story of a mild-mannered JRT who works for the Dover Express and one of his adventures ...

Siobhan has won the Kent Model of the Year 2006/7 title, and after competing in the finals in Liverpool on 26 November 2006, The UK Model of the Year 2006/7 sash! Siobhan has won over £10,000 worth of prizes including cash, clothing, modelling portfolios, a promotional contract, personal websites, entry into the European Model of the Year 2007 contest, and membership to The Star Now modelling agency.

Siobhan's entry into the contest has been sponsored by long-time Cheriton Carnival supporter and sponsor, Kevin Groves of KSoft. Thanks Kevin.

Shiv was on of the runners-up in the Face of Maidstone contest, has just been crowned Miss UK Intercontinental, and took part in the Miss England Earth finals!  And this just in ... Shiv has been accepted onto the books of the internationally renowned modelling agency, Century Models of London, New York, Japan and China.

Karol enjoyed a spot of success when she took part in her first carnival outside Kent in 4 years, when she was awarded third place in the Waltham Forest Adult Fancy Dress competition.

Karol took part in the Marlowe Theatre's 2007 Easter production, 'The Jungle Book', directed by Kevin Wood.  Karol, along with Tasha will be taking part in the Leas Cliff Hall Christmas panto, Jack and the Beanstalk, which is being choreographed by 1995 Senior Princess, Laura Brickell.

Meanwhile Ben won a place in Blackfish Academy's summer CTP, 'We Will Rock You', and has landed the supporting role of Topper in their Christmas production, 'Scrooge, The Musical'.

Karol was asked to take part in the 2007 Dover Film Festival, as one of the extras on The Other Boleyn Girl filmed at Dover Castle.

And Karol was also asked to judge the 2007 Miss Sandwich contest on 3 March.
