To start the ball rolling we have 1997 Queen, Rose-Marie Stevens, who is now living and working in Sheffield, and who got married last year.

Rolling back the years ten years, and 1987 Queen Kathryn now lives in Minster and works in Thanet.  She married a Dover boy, and has FOUR children, three boys and one girl, Danielle who was our 2002 Junior Queen.  Danielle is doing extremely well at Sandwich Technology School and is now in her third year, where she recently met Dame Kelly Holmes.

Our 1996 Queen, Stephanie, wrote to tell me: "In 2000 I moved to Hawkinge and married Steve Mayes who I met at the Miss Kent & Sussex selection in 1997.  We now have three children, Charlotte who was born in 2002, Daniel who was born in 2003, and Steve's 19 year old son David (pictured below).

I worked as a secretary for a Quantity Surveyor (with Steve) until Charlotte was born and now I'm a stay at home Mum who loves taking her kids to the carnivals to wave at the pretty ladies!!!!!"

Thanks to MySpace I have made contact with out 1998 Junior Queen, Vicky Coltart, who sent me this: "Me since 1999!  Can’t believe it’s been 7 years!  I was only in year 8/9 (2nd/3rd year) when I joined Cheriton and Morehall Carnival Association, so the major thing that has happened to me since leaving is my education. And Orthodontia! The braces came off in July 2000, but 20 months of pain did pay off! lol!

I managed to pass all my GCSE’s with grade C and above in 2001, despite having to deal with Dad’s downhill slide, and went on to ‘study’ for my A levels, still at FSG, and managed to pass Dance, Psychology and RE & Philosophy in 2003! When I say pass, I mean scrape through!  This is when the confusing stuff starts, I left school for King Alfred’s College in Winchester (now the University of Winchester) to study Dance Studies in the hope of becoming a dance teacher. Unfortunately, in the February of 2004 the university decided to change my course to a choreography degree (something I didn’t want to do) and due to the stress, I contracted glandular fever and had to drop out because the physical aspects of the course were too heavy (and likely to get heavier because of the course change).

So, when I was feeling a little better, I worked for 3 months in a music shop that I have been working in since 2001 and still work in to this day!  It was during this time that I felt I was going brain dead so decided to get back into education. I went back to college and did AS Film Studies and a fast-track English Literature A Level in the hope of improving my grades for university entry.  I passed with a B in AS Film and an overall B for English Lit and am now in my second year at the University of Kent at Canterbury studying English and American Literature combined with Film Studies, and loving every minute.  So even though it took me a long time to get there, I am now, at 21, doing something I love.
I’m also in a couple of little bands (yet to take off). ‘Captain Noodle and The Chopsticks’ and ‘The Pose’ (name likely to change). In ‘Captain Noodle’ I play bass guitar and in ‘The Pose’ I sing. So some of my spare time is taken up with songwriting and band practices.  Other than that, I look after mum (when she can’t find her glasses etc) and just chill out with friends."

From one Junior Queen to another - and news of our first ever winner of the title, Luan Leigh.  After her final year with the Cheriton Carnival court (as Senior Miss Cheriton) in 1990, Luan moved to Wakefield with her parents and her two young daughters, Kelly and Sharn.  While she was there she met and fell in love with Andrew, and after eight years in Yorkshire moved back to Kent with her daughters, and her mum and dad, bringing Andrew and his daughter Kim with her, where they all settled in Hawkinge.

Luan was a judge at our 2002 Junior selection contest, and a few months later gave birth to her third daughter, Kirsty.   Luan, Andrew, Kelly, Sharn, Kim, and Kirsty are still living in Hawkinge.  Luan was recently featured in the Folkestone Herald's The Way We Were feature.

Once again MySpace has brought about contact with two former girls - Senior Princess for 2000 Carly Cribben, and Senior Queen 1998, Vivien Dibble.
As you can see, Viv is as stunning as she ever was:

She tells us:  "I have two kids now a little boy called Kobe and I have a stepson called Kai."  (More to follow soon.)
As for Carly - she's still a Take That fan (so you can imagine that she was well pleased with their comeback!)  After having worked in the entertainment industry for a few years, she's back in Folkestone.

News of our 1988 Queen, Karol.  She married Andy, the journalist from the Folkestone Herald who had come to interview her about the carnival in 1991.  After living and working in Devon, the couple moved to Dover, where their son Ben was born in 1993.  Karol and Andy's story was told in a recent The Way We Were Feature in the Folkestone Herald.

Ben, who is in his third year at Dover Grammar School for Boys was Carnival Mascot with Cheriton before spending a year as a Prince in the Dover Court.  Ben has also won several photo competitions including recently the Environment Agency's Wildlife photo contest.
Meanwhile Karol has also won several contests, including the most recent, first prize in the Whistable Improvement Trust's Postcard for Whitstable contest and a third place in the Kentish Stour photography competition 2006.

Ben recently enjoyed his prize in the Leeds Castle photo competition - learning how to fly the birds of prey (clockwise from top left - Zippy, a Scops owl; Ozzie, an African Eagle owl; Maggie, a Hooded Vulture; Clara, a Harris Hawk).  Initially, Ben was terrified of them, but by the end of the course he was confident and loving every minute of it.  Truly, a once-in-a-lifetime experience!
Both Ben and Karol are still very active in the local community, being involved with such events and groups as the Dover Pageant and the Blackfish Theatre Academy.

2003 Queen, Siobhan Hustler, is now Miss Invicta-Kent.

Since the demise of the Cheriton Court Siobhan has gone on to be a huge hit on the carnival circuit, first as a Kent Princess then as a Folkestone Princess and recently as Miss Folkestone, and a Euroregion Princess.

Siobhan also won the Miss Kent British Isles contest and a place in the final of Miss British Isles, where she fought off stiff competition from 27 other girls to make it to the final seven, only missing out on a top three place by just one point.

And there was more success for Siobhan when she won the Kent Model of the Year title followed by the UK Model of the Year sash just one month after her success in Miss British Isles.  She went on to be interviewed on local TV and radio.  (See Fame and the Famous)

Other beauty pageant successes include winning Miss News of the World 2007, and a place in the Miss England finals, as well as places in three other regional heat finals for Miss England 2007.

Siobhan was also in the final of the Models Online Faces of 2006 contest.  As part of her prize she won a photographic session with a top London photographer, which included a hair and make-up session and a chance to model clothes from a top London design house.

Shiv has also been accepted onto the books of several modelling agencies including Century Models and The Star Now Agency.

Off the carnival circuit, Siobhan left Astor College last year and is now a student at the South Kent College in Folkestone, and is also a member of the Blackfish Academy with Ben and Karol.

One of the Blackfish Academy's productions that Karol and Siobhan took part in this year was 'Talking Heads - An Evening of Monologues' on 17 and 18 February.  Another recent production that both Karol and Ben starred in was 'Alice the Musical', with Ben taking the principal role of the March Hare while Karol was The Governess.

Also Karol recently starred in the critically aclaimed 'Talking Heads 2', with no less than four monologues!

And in case you missed it, Karol has been seen on TV over the past 12 months - first during Making It on the local news programme and more recently on Bargain Hunt.  And will be seen on the big screene with Shiv in The Other Boleyn Girl.

2003 Junior Princess Tasha has just been crowned Junior Miss Invicta 2007, and will be working once again with Shiv - a huge welcome back to the carnival circuit chattiest girl in Kent!

She is doing really well at the Grammar School in Folkestone and has for the last two years landed a place in the Marlowe Theatre Pantomime, as well as taken part in many dance festivals and contests.

Don't forget - send us your news and catch-ups, and we will put them on the site!  Watch this space - more to follow!!
