HERE ARE A FEW OF OUR
FAVOURITE ...
Calling all former Cheriton Court members - this is your page, where you can add your favourite pictures. These can be of your carnival friends, or just your favourite picture of you (or your Court) as a Cheriton girl. And I'll start the ball rolling ...
Below are just some of the carnival girls with whom I became friends over my years on the circuit. Most of them I'm still in contact with; some I have lost contact with, but if you're reading this please write to me at the address on the sidebar.
Alison Thorpe, me and Linda Attwell at Canterbury carnival (sadly Ali died several years ago)
Linda Mason, me, Michelle Dodman and Heidi Terry at the Kent Ideal Home Exhibition. Linda and I spent many a veggie lunchtime together in Canterbury.
Me and Catherine Robertson at Folkestone Carnival 1988
Me and Claire Scrivens at Canterbury selection 1989.
Me and Joanne Skinner at Westgate Carnival 1989
Tracey Batt and me at Folkestone Carnival 1987
Mandy, Rachel Horsford and Jane Driver at Canterbury Carnival
The 1988 Maidstone girls (Lisa Hayman, Maxine Turner and Pam Butterworth) hitch a ride in my car at Folkestone Carnival
Miss Sturry 1988, Sue Mason, showed everyone what a bargain she was (just kidding Sue)
Kelly 'Addicted to Love' Pearce and Heidi Walters at Faversham Carnival 1989
Emma from Birchington and Cheryl from Bromley at Faversham 89. Should we Return to the Forbidden Planet, Chez? Let's dance in the theatre again!
Dancing with the Dover girls - Sue Black and Tracey Hibbert - at Deal Carnival. Sue's daughter, Katy, and Ben ended up at the same primary school!
The Sheerness girls - Mayar Wheeler, Sarah Sinclair (with the birthday card I made for her) and Karrianne Sharpe. Just to prove (once again) what a small world we live in, Mayar and Andy worked together at the East Kent/Sheppey Gazette
Deal girls, Richenda Appleford, Kerry-Jane Bryant and Lisa Hayman at Dover's selection
The 1999 Deal girls - Katherine, Michelle and Jolene (pictured with Carly) - and I, enjoyed quite a night out in Dover (do you remember the ride home? I know your mum does Michelle!) Sadly Jo is no longer with us.
Martin Shabolt, who with his wife Maureen, were to become close family friends. Love the hat, Martin; enjoying life in Germany?
Lynne and David Noble - more like family than friends. Love ya!
These are two of my favourite Cheriton pictures:
This is my favourite picture as of me as Miss Cheriton, taken at Folkestone Carnival 1988, by Brian Newcombe. (And if you're wondering, I'm laughing at the comment Lisa Hayman had just made, and no I won't tell you what she said!)
We are family ... two lots of sisters, one lot of cousins, the 1987 Cheriton Court, Luan and Coral Leigh, Karol and Kathryn Ryan
These are just some of my favourite carnival pictures:
I love this one of Ben and Rhiannon on the bouncy castle at the Buddy Challenge in 2003
It's the look on the 1998 Deal girls after the wave had just washed over them that I like in this picture
D I S C O - Siobhan and Rhiannon enjoying a dance at Birchington's selection in 2004
I like this one of the Courts at the Mongeham fete in 2001 because it says everything about the English summer - pretty carnival queens, colourful balloons, and if you look carefully, black storm clouds in the background!
After winning the top prize at Deal's Christmas parade in 2000 the Court decided to celebrate 'Girl Power' style. That's my girls!
These are just a few of Siobhan's favourite pictures, entitled Maldon Madness (just for you Charlie!):

Ben's favourite court - Chartham. Mostly because they were the only other court (at the time) to have boys, but I also think it was because of Vicky (right) ...

That's all for the moment, but there will be more to follow.
