THE PLAY'S THE THING

All the world's a stage ...
... and usually you would have found members of the Cheriton and Morehall Court right in the centre of it! From Abi, Rebecca, Vivien and Carly's dancing to Toni and Rose's concert appearances, via Karol, Stephanie, Siobhan, Tasha, Jenna and Ben's acting, our girls (and boy) could never resist the chance to hit the boards and show the world what they were made of. Just take a look ...
Stephanie was a member of the Dour Dramatics Group, first playing a murder suspect in a Murder is Announced...

... then the romantic lead in the comedy Play On.

Vivien and Carly were members of the Studio 6 dance troupe who performed all over the southeast, including a show at the London Palladium, dancing at the Neptune Radio Road Show, and even strutting their stuff during the Lord Mayor's Show in London.

Ben loved throwing himself into his stage roles at Primary school - Babes in the Woods (he's in the box!) for drama group,

and The Emerald Crown (in the green), Minibeast Madness (centre in the purple) and Wormzz (centre in the purple again) at Astor College.

And now he loves singing in the choir at Grammar School (far right and third left).

He's also been known to take part in poetry festivals,

or even plays in local landmarks (this one is Horatio's Last Hurrah at Deal Castle)

Ben's latest shows have been the Blackfish Academy's Rocky Panto in December 2006.

and he is currently in rehearsal for their summer production, We Will Rock You.
Karol and Ben made an appearance in the 2002 Dover Pageant (clockwise from top) first with Charles II (centre and far right), then Karol (right) was Lady-in Waiting to Edward VII and Elizabeth II, while Ben (left) was a Bronze Age boatman. The day ended with the parade of the 44 flags of Dover.

Ben and Karol were joined by Jenna and Andy at the 2005 Dover Pageant. (From top, left to right) Jenna (far right) was a Genteel lady of Dover watching the first balloon crossing, Andy was a Discreet Gentleman of the Dover Harbour Board, Karol was Queen Catherine of Aragon with Ben and Jenna as her courtiers, Karol was a 1920's flapper dancing the Black Bottom, while Ben starred as Admiral Lord Nelson. The day ended once again with the parade of the 44 flags of Dover.

While Siobhan was a student at Astor College she took part in many musicals both in this country as well as in Croatia and Russia. Here's Siobhan as the lead in South Pacific,

and in Sweet Charity (far right).
Siobhan, Ben and Karol prepared for the musical Hood! at the Blackfish Academy, [clockwise from top left - Shiv and Ben (far left) rehearsing some of the songs; Karol gives it all she's got; Karol, Ben and the cast give it 'Jazz Hands'; Shiv (with 'Maid Marian') shows 'em how it's done.]

And below, some pre-publicity shots, taken at various locations around Dover:

Siobhan was unfortunately taken ill before the actual performance, but the show still went on with Ben and Karol.

If you want to see more images from Hood, go to www.davidswandesign.com/hood.
The latest show that Siobhan and Karol starred in was the Blackfish Academy's Talking Heads - An Evening of Monolgues.

And Karol and Ben successfully passed the audition for Blackfish Academy's latest Community Theatre Project, Alice the Musical. Karol played the Governess and Ben had the part of the March Hare. The production was a huge hit with audiences and sold out on all four nights of its run.

Karol recently starred in the critically acclaimed sequel to Talking Heads, 'Talking Heads 2 - having no less than four monologues to perform!
Then she had the experience of a lifetime when she played a noblewoman in the Natalie Portman/Scarlett Johansson movie, 'The Other Boleyn Girl'.
While Siobhan had the roles of a peasant girl and a Lady-in-Waiting on the same movie.
Karol performed on the Marlowe Theatre stage in the 2007 Easter production, The Jungle Book, starring Dave Lee. She played an Indian Villager and ... a tree!

Tasha, a member of the Divas Dance school, was a dab hand at singing and dancing as well as acting, first in Grease (centre),

then in a Hallowe'en Thriller (centre) and watched by the rest of the Court.

Tasha even took part in a competition to join the England Dance Team in America.
And Tasha appeared in the 2005 Marlowe Theatre pantomime, Cinderella. Go, Tasha!

And will once again grace the stage at the Marlowe in the 2006 pantomime. Tasha also took part in another dance festival on 23 June in the Woodward Hall, with Studio Six. Well done, Tasha!
Watch this space ... there will be more to follow.
